The Cottage
Summer cottage is an attractively presented double fronted terraced cottage of some character, about 200 years old, in pleasant rural surroundings on the outskirts of Tipton St.John.
It has been re-furbished to a very high standard, with no expense spared.
The whole house is centrally heated, and enough wood and coal are provided for the wood burning stove to start the fire when you arrive. All heating and lighting is included in the price.
The Location
Tipton St.John is a small thriving village, set in the fertile meadows and rolling hills of the River Otter, about 13 miles east of Exeter, in East Devon.
The River Otter rises in the Blackdown hills in Somerset, and ends on the coast at Budleigh Salterton.
The country around Tipton St.John is glorious for walking, including riverside walks along the River Otter, or climbing Fire Beacon Hill to the east of Tipton.
There is a local pub offering a range of bar snacks and meals, garage and village shop and post office.
The dignified seaside Regency town of Sidmouth is just 3 miles away, with it’s shopping centre leading down to the long esplanade on the seafront.
Sidmouth is the nearest beach(Jacobs Ladder), but there are also beaches at Budleigh Salterton (15mins) and Exmouth (20 mins).
Budleigh Salterton has retained its genteel Victorian atmosphere, here small boats are winched up on to the shelving shingle beach which curves gently from the mouth of the River Otter to the woodland slopes of West Down.
Exmouth is renowned for its attractive gardens, long sandy shore, temperate climate and splendid sunsets. This popular resort stands on the Eastern side of the estuary where the waters of the River Exe meet the open sea.

SIDMOUTH has an indoor swimming pool, and a range of delightful shops. There are many walks which start from here, following the coast paths.
BUDLEIGH SALTERTON has hardly changed since Victorian times, and like Sidmouth has a long esplanade along the seafront. There are many walks here along the Otter, or coast paths.
EXMOUTH has a Sports Centre and indoor swimming pool, and a large Tennis Centre, and a larger range of shops. The seafront is set apart from the shopping area.
The City of EXETER has many large stores, and has 2 swimming pools, and a ten pin bowling centre.
The nearest hospital is at Ottery St Mary, just 3 miles away.
The cottage is deceptively large, and creates a feeling of space.
Altogether it creates a relaxing atmosphere for your holiday, and is ideal for families or couples
